Next weekend I will be in Tornio, where I have to prove my vocational proficiency to the judges, who will give me some milieu photography related assignement to work at. They will also judge my preliminary milieu assignement photos that I have built up gradually during summer and autumn. I have also re-done product pictures from the studiophotography part of the studies. I failed with my previous product photos (yes, they were really bad), so I hope I will pass with these new ones.

Preliminary milieu assignement no.6 - Photoreportage (Kuvareportaasi)

Preliminary milieu assignement no.7 - Milieu inside (Miljöö)

Preliminary milieu assignement no.8 - Profile (Henkilökuva)

Preliminary milieu assignement no.6 - Scenery (Maisema)

Preliminary milieu assignement no.2 - Product (Tuotekuva)

Black & White night shots

This evening I got somekind of creative inspiration so I took my camera and tripod and went outside to shoot some pictures. In my mind was the idea that I would convert the resulted photos to black and white. I am a big fan of B&W pictures, because I like their simplicity without colors. Outside was -7 degrees celsius, so after 30 minutes shooting I was freezing and headed back home to enjoy a big mug of hot chocolate. I processed the pictures and here are some of them.

Samsung Photographic Competition - Winner 2008

I received great news yesterday. I found out that I have won the Samsung Photographic Competition 2008. I am really excited and happy about that, because it's always rewarding to get some kind of recognition for your photography. I attended to the competition through Art in Woodstock site, which promotes annual Visual Arts Festival within the town of Woodstock.

The theme in the competition was "illumination", in a literal or lateral sense. Here is my winning picture.

Larsen XO product shoot

It's been a month since I wrote anything here. I have been busy in other areas in my life than photography, but now I had to take my camera and shoot again. Last April I was practicing product photography using DIY light-tent for shooting small Canon IXUS camera. I used those photos for trying to pass product photography part of the studies. I failed, and now I have to do 3-5 product shots and replace those bad bad pictures with new pictures. In the end of november they will judge my new product pictures and if they are ok, I will pass the whole studiosession part of the study. Here are some of the first pictures of my chosen subject. More will come soon. Any comments, advises and critique are more than welcome!
